The Cape!

Ok...so here is the story of the magical cape. I was in Ohio with my boyfriend pet-sitting for his parents. The whole time I was there I did all the things I never really have time to do anymore. I relaxed, I cooked beautiful dinners, and I changed my outfit about three times a day. One afternoon I was feeling a bit English prep schooly, so I put on one of my American Apparel school girl skirts, a black sleeveless top with fabric around the collar that you can wear like a tie, and an over sized knit sweater. I also decided to wear my classy french nylon stockings that my bf gifted to me for Christmas. Here are some pics that I find quite humorous due to the sequencing...

Since I was all done up with really nothing to do, we decided to hit up an antique mall where I found cute vintage hats last winter. Well to my shock this particular vendor has managed to double their inventory since the first time I was there. Knowing my shopping habits quite well, I was smart enough to only bring (x) amount of cash money with me. This also meant not bringing any debit or credit cards btw! Well of course I immediately loaded up my arms with all sorts of goodies. I had a couple of hats, a maxi skirt that I'm hoping my bf will be able to snag for me before he returns home, a couple of purses, and etc. I was already over my cash limit but couldn't decide which items I wanted, so of course I carried way to many pieces all over this two story thrifting bonanza changing my mind a million times. But then...wait for it...I went upstairs and in mid-sentence dropped everything and shouted "cape!". I have been searching for the perfect cape since a couple of winters ago, with not much luck mind you. Sometimes there are just certain things that you can't let go, and mine was the cape! I tried it on in front of an old mirror and fell in love! It fit me perfectly, but was however over my price point. Then, a really nice lady popped up out of no where and immediately lowered the price for me! How about that? No haggling was even necessary. And with all of that said, here is my new cape...

And here is a little modeling action for you...

And so, that is the story of how I came to own this magical cape. If you are wondering why it is magical, please refer to the post directly below this one.

Flying Me

So why is this girl so happy? Because she just learned how to fly from Natsumi! It could have been magical powers from this amazing cape that I discovered in South Eastern Ohio, or maybe it was just sheer will power. Whatever the case, I am obviously overjoyed by my new skill that I've developed, while simultaneously impressing the dog. It will surely give me the upper hand I have been seeking in many a sticky situation to come. If anyone is interested in seeing more amazing feats such as these, check out the true master at work Natsumi.

P.S. I will divulge more about this magic cape soon. Hopefully by tomorrow!

My Darkness

Ok so here we go! This is what I pieced together last night for my Richard Nicoll inspired mood. I know the picture is really not so good, but as I mentioned before I have extreme time management issues ( I was only 8 minutes late to the party btw!) and had about five seconds to force my wonderful boyfriend to snap this off. He is however a fantastic photographer and everyone should check out his portfolio listed below in the links list! Really you should!

Back to business...

The mesh leggings, the black school girl skirt, and the mesh top which is actually a dress, is all from American Apparel. The one shouldered beaded top is from The Limited of all places, along with the earrings and the bracelet. The boots are from Urban Outfitters.

Here is a close up so maybe you can make out the details a little better. Like I said, Time Management! I swear better photos next time. I'm actually tempted to try to add some small chains or studs to this top just to make it a little more neo-punk. Sounds like a future project!

The Darkness Comes Yet Again

So today is my dad's 60th birthday party and I have been looking forward to it all week. I have the day off and I am actually getting to go out and socialize. As you can imagine, I was also looking forward to what I was going to wear. I hadn't quite worked it out yet, but it was going to be based around the fact that the snow was almost melted completely away (at least off of all the major walk ways) and it most certainly involved open-toe shoes. But alas, being Erie and all, it started storming the night before last and when I woke up yesterday it was still raining/snowing and there was a whole fresh batch of snow covering the ground. About a foot if that helps with the mental picture.

Anyway, I was thinking still about what I want to wear, but it seemed depressing to try to wear something springy on this overly overcast day. So then I decided I'll just roll with the theme. I have lately been into Richard Nicoll's SS11 Home Collection. It's mostly black and white with the exception of a few outfits in nude and blush tones. This collection is somber like the weather here in Erie, but because of the sheer fabrics, the mostly bear arms, and the general lightness that this collection instills, there is a sense of hope that spring is not far.

Photos of my outfit will be posted either much later tonight or tomorrow. I have time management issues and if I stick around here much longer I'll be missing the party!

Things to Come

Here is a little preview of a new project to come. Let's just say it involves some spring bags that I have been lusting over, along with a little thrifty shopper gloating...
