Duh?

As a lover of color, which is noted in my profile, how am I not supposed to LOVE this rug by Sonya Winner? I found it here on one of my favorite design sites, Contemporist. It reminded me of the first time I began using filters in photography and how beautiful they look splayed out all over a lightbox. This was one of my first projects using filters to illustrate CMYK...

It's funny how something seemed so trivial and basic at the time, but in retrospect it can open up a whole new door for inspiration <3

More D.I.M.

Here is a snapshot of a few more necklaces that I finished up yesterday. It didn't go quite as smoothly as the first two that I made, but it was mostly a success. I can't wait to get my hands on more materials now that I have formulated an effective construction plan! Most of the necklaces are made with quartz, but now that I know I can do this I am going to invest in some more eye catching minerals. I am particularly fond of the aura quarts and silver casing combo. I would like to find more citrine, and possibly even some hematite for future fashions <3

If anyone has any lovely crystal or stone suggestions I would love to hear them!

It's About Time!

I probably should have done this by now, but oh well. I have officially started a Facebook page for Mostly Clothes! If anyone out there is interested in carrying on some more design oriented conversation, just visit my page and go through the "Like" motions. The page is going to be for more casual thoughts and posts about designs I like, or don't like, and it will also hopefully open up a platform for discussion! Hope to see some of you there. Just click the big "Like" button <3

Do. It. Myself.

Today I finished up a little D.I.M. (Do It Myself) project involving bullet casings, crystals, and vintage chains. I have been obsessing over D.I.Y. tutorials and the wildly popular crystal trend that's been going on for a while now, so I decided it was time to combine the two. I nicked this idea from a posting on Design Crush. It wasn't too hard to recreate with the help of Tom, who procured the bullet casings and operated the drill press for me. Thanks babe!

Up next on the D.I.M. list are friendship necklaces that incorporate crystals (of course!) and some variations on the friendship bracelet <3

Say What!

So this is (in my humble opinion) like the best design idea ever! I found these amazing temporary tattoos on Design Sponge, a pretty awesome blog in its own right. These little wonders are called Tattlys and are absolutely perfect for a tattoo-less being like myself. They are lovely little forms of design to complement anyone's sense of style, and best of all there are no regrets!

This gets a <3 for sure!

Graphically Inclined

ASOS Lacquered Effect Stacked Bangles

I continuously find myself attracted to items that remind me of graphic design. I can picture wearing this bangle set with a pair of white jeans and a sheer white tee, along with a pair of black combat boots. Bold colors with an otherwise simple canvas equals a good outfit and a good graphic design!

Happy Summer Weekend!

I love a perfect summer evening when the sun is setting and the fireflies have finally saved up enough energy to begin their performance. The temperature has dropped just enough to wear a long skirt or a pair of jeans, and you can run around in the grass waiting for the stars up above to replace the bioluminescence below. Here Tom is wearing what I consider to be the perfect summer evening uniform; an old pair of Seven jeans with some home-made patchwork, a white organic cotton American Apparel tee that obviously can't be seen, and a white pair of Vans sneakers. I love the twilight colors of a perfect summer evening and hope that we all get to experience a little warm weather magic this weekend!

Intergalactic!

Tom and I have been watching some amazing videos about anti-matter, galaxies, light, vacuums, the stars, and everything else amazing that makes up the universe! So it's really no shock that I am totally in love with the fact that designers have been printing night skies on their garments. If my glasses haven't already given it away folks...I'm a sci-fi nerd! I would love nothing more than to witness first hand the approach of a never before seen galaxy, growing in size, light, and color as we enter a new world! But until then, I can wear my dreams on my sleeve, or rather my whole body, with any of these beautiful pieces.

I have been staring at these two tear sheets incessantly. Thank you Elle for the lovely Zodiac Signs page in the Fashions section. The other page is from an old Free People catalog. I loved these rings because they look as though they could have been dug out of the earth on this planet or from one far across the universe. I am particularly fond of the Jeremy Lang crater covered tank and of course the Louboutin's. I m also fond of this shot of Miroslava in Christopher Kane...

STREETFSN by Nam

Christopher Kane's Spring 2011 collection features a number of wonderfully galactic prints that make me daydream about space travel <3

If there are any other space obsessed fans out there with more info on galactic couture, please don't hesitate to share!

Happy Weekend!

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend. Make sure to use up any left over 4th of July fun!

Just remember to be safe <3

Kate Spade: July

Here they are, even though I just published June's picks! I couldn't help myself.

Recital Farra

Tessa

Franca

The feature on the Kate Spade website is currently black and white...my favorite theme ever! These three pieces evoke classic Hollywood cinema in my mind. I imagine Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn rocking out a classic black dress with any of these accessories in tow! I would personally pair these items with a white or neutral colored dress for a chic afternoon outing. How would you wear it : )
