Here I go with the reportage again, but I really can't help myself. I had to share some of my favorite images from Christopher Kane's s/s 2012 collection because he is one of my most favorite designers right now. Like most other collections, we see the 60's inspired cuts with a futuristic spin on them. I love the school-girl skirts with the space age pleats, and I LOVE that it seems as though he took a note from The Style Rookie when it comes to all those flower details on the sheer organza. These were some of my favorite pieces from the show.
I would wear every look from this runway, but if I had to choose just one it would have to be the sheer, floral top with the grey, pleated skirt. I am intrigued by the floral prints from this season. A lot of the prints have reminded me of updated brocade, which I already loved, and I can't wait to get my hands on something similar!

D.I.M. Friendship Bracelets
The nostalgic trend that reminds me of summer camp has been all over the wrists of street-photo worthy subjects since last winter. I put my old skills to the test and it turns out I still have it! I have been making classic friendship bracelets with embroidery thread (as is tradition) only this time I added a vintage touch. I wove antique buttons into the design. I have had a huge pile of vintage and antique buttons that my "off the records" mother-in-law gave me this summer and finally found a good use for them <3
What does everyone else think about the friendship bracelet trend? Would you wear one of these? I'm thinking of adding them to to the D.I.M. store inventory list. If enough people like them, I just may have a give-away!

Killing Time
This past Friday Tom and I had to make an unexpected trip to Cleveland. We had an entire afternoon to kill and rather than take my laptop in to have the screen fixed, we decided to spend the day at The Cleveland Art Museum. Priorities!
We received a lot of weird looks for taking more photos of the escalators instead of the artworks. I was particularly inspired by a textile sculpture from the artist Sheila Hicks. It was a hanging sculpture of bundles of linen wrapped in different shades of blue and purple thread. The shapes and colors gave me some d.i.y. necklace ideas. It was a long day, but museums are always a mood lifter <3

Another New Favorite
I have another new Street Photog Fav...Guerreisms
I love all of my favorite street photographers for different reasons. They all seem to have their own signature styles and quarks. I love Guerreisms for all the fashion details. The subject matter of these photos is always apparent and inspiring.
Here are a couple of inspiring images to get you through the weekend!

Alexander Wang Spring 2012
I wasn't really planning on posting any fashion week reportage photos from this year, mostly because it's all already out there and it's not my work, but after seeing A. Wangs spring 2012 collection I felt that I had to chime in. I didn't totally love all of the show just because some of the pieces seemed very expected in a way, but the pieces that did stand out to me I absolutely adore. There was the whole motorcross and Nascar thing going on, that in a way doesn't sit well with me because of having lived around Nascar fans. Not my favorite. But then towards the end of the slide show, I began to see a very interesting interpretation of some of the inspiring elements. What really got me was the "arrow" detailing paired with unexpected color palettes. I love the bright blue and orange in some of the tops, and I LOVE the clean white dresses with sheer panelling. These are a few pieces that really stood out to me and made me think twice about this collection.
The second image with the orange and white top is my favorite. It has a slight neo-native feel to it, with a touch of Tron, which is always good in my book.
What has been your favoite look through-out NYFW this year?

Summer Skies and Dresses
So long sweet summer. I will miss you so.
I have a feeling that I won't be seeing another day like this until next summer. I love the hot weather, but look forward towards the fashions of fall. I will admit that summer is a lazy time for me when it comes to getting dressed. Let's face it! I have curly hair and summer is humid. I don't think I need to explain. I like to run around and enjoy the outdoors, so all I really need is a breezy dress and some flat sandals, or even better, no shoes at all! If I spent the summer in an air-conditioned office things would different, but when I'm outside watching the niece and nephew in the kiddie pool, I'll stick with the simple cotton dress over my bathing suit.
As for the cooler (and wetter) weather that's been approaching; I find it to be bitter-sweet. I will miss my beloved summer, but finally feel inspired to don some new outfits! The only thing worrying me is that most of my cool-weather clothing is buried in the back of a storage unit. So the way I see it, I have two options. I can hurry up and find a new town to live in and get my crap unpacked, or I can chase the warm weather! I'm liking the second option <3
p.s. As soon as I get my laptop fixed you will be seeing much more "legitimate" photography! I have projects coming that require more than this back-up laptop can handle.

It's Labor Day Weekend?
Time flies when you don't pay attention! I hope everyone has a good holiday weekend and make sure to do something summery while you still can...like pose on the end of a diving board!
I'd love to hear some labor day stories. Tell me about your weekend <3
