Warm Winter

I was going to do a Christmas recap post, but to be honest I'm kind of sick of that holiday anyway. It has been unseasonably warm here for the time of year, not that I'm complaining, and even though these pictures are from the very beginning of winter, the weather today is the same if not warmer. By now there should be white covering everything and snow dunes two stories high lining the shore.

Tom and I frequent the lake a lot, but only when the weather is cooler for some reason. Probably because there are less people around. We go to take pictures even though we have pretty much exhausted the palette, but it's always a relaxing outing. The colors in poor weather always render much better than they would on a hot summer day. Not to mention that my indigo tights look best in this kind of light <3

Holiday Party Crackers

I have an extremely large family, so I'm liking this idea for a d.i.y. holiday party cracker that I found on Design Sponge.

We typically only gift the youngest members of each household for Christmas, but I'm thinking a bag full of these babies for everyone could be fun.

Friday Night*

It's kind of funny how I really don't like cold weather, but I really love layering with clothing. The weather has been oddly warmish for the time of year here, but on Friday night I finally got a chance to really pile on some layers.

I wore a rather light weight dress with a heavy sweater over it, and I paired it with a new pair of tights and high suede boots. I also loaded up my wrists with vintage and handmade bracelets. (I didn't actually wear the snake cuff out since that one is for sale at the D . I . M . shop, but I thought it would look good in a picture!) I worked a cute coat into the outfit; I was feeling pretty good; we made it out to dinner; then it started to snow. Like REALLY snow...

My straightened hair for the evening was soaked, which equals frizz ball city, so I bailed on Friday night out and came home and made jewelry in my slippers (see below) while watching bad tv on Netflix.

A good time was had by all!

*I am well aware of the fact that writing about my failed Friday night out on a  Saturday night doesn't make my social life look very promising. Homebody much???

Anyone else have an exciting or not so exciting weekend?

Tech Head

While writing up a gift-guide for the technology inclined, I got a little distracted with the colors in these Marc Jacobs accessories. I couldn't decide which neon color I liked best so I made a mixed and matched graphic to achieve maximum color enjoyment.

When I Should Be In Bed

This is what I look like when I should be making jewelry or sleeping or something...

It's hard to be productive and well rested with Legos in the house. Meet The Space Plumber! Tom and I combined our creative efforts to make this bad boy. In case your wondering, he did the really cool wings and I did the wonky plumber truck part. Hey this is a design blog too you know!

Hoilday Gift Guide Take One

For those of you out there that understand the value of an aesthetically pleasing work space, then iomoi is the online shop for you! From desk essentials all the way down the necessity list to totes, iomoi offers beautiful customizable items that make perfect gifts. You can even have most everything monogrammed. Here are some of my favorite goodies...

I wouldn't be upset if someone gifted me those gold tipped pens! One of my favorite things in the store is matchbook sets. A handmade card paired with a pretty little match book and a matching candle would make a great gift for co-workers.

Aside from all the little gift items, iomoi also offers great totes, scarves, and home decor. It's a fun store to browse through so check it out!
