I love to look at building and interior design blogs, but lately I have been feeling a bit bored with most of the contemporary designs. Everything is starting to look like the same, expensive, shiny "thing". And then there was Cabin Porn! These small structures are so personal and full of character. My family has always had a small hunting camp somewhere, and it's fun to get away to a goofy little building that is designed with only the basics. There is a place to sleep, a place to eat, a small gathering area, and most importantly a deck for enjoying the outdoors. Sometimes even the outdoor spaces start to feel like part of actual living space. It's nice to step back and enjoy the purpose of these friendly little buildings.

I was at Thompsons Bay this afternoon shooting houseboats with my kid. Floating cabins.

I love that you adore looking at this kind of stuff. I collect log cabin and cottage bungalow magazines for the same reasons....maybe someday Alex and I will get to build our own, and then I can have you over for tea.
I would love to have tea in your hand built cabin!
